You can also manage app notification permissions directly in your device's system settings. ## Email Notifications Fromag.io sends two types of emails: * **Transactional** — account confirmations and security emails (cannot be disabled) * **Newsletter** — new cheeses, community content, and cheese tips (optional) **To unsubscribe from the newsletter:** * Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email, or * Contact us at [hello@fromag.io](mailto:hello@fromag.io) *** Having trouble with notifications? Reach out at [hello@fromag.io](mailto:hello@fromag.io). # Privacy & Security Source: https://docs.fromag.io/account/privacy Control your data and privacy settings on Fromag.io. Fromag.io gives you control over what you share and how your data is handled. ## Review Visibility Reviews are **public by default**, appearing on cheese pages and user profiles. You can make any review private at any time — it will only be visible to you. To toggle visibility, open the review and select the options menu, then switch between public and private. ## Profile Visibility Your profile is publicly visible by default, showing your name, avatar, bio, location, passport flags, and public reviews. Optional fields (bio, location) can be left blank if you prefer to share less. ## Email Communications Fromag.io sends emails for account activity and an optional newsletter. Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the link in any email, or by contacting [hello@fromag.io](mailto:hello@fromag.io). ## Account Deletion To delete your account, email [hello@fromag.io](mailto:hello@fromag.io). Changes save immediately and are visible to other users right away. ### Profile Photo | Accepted formats | Max size | Displayed at | | ---------------- | -------- | ------------------- | | JPG, PNG, WEBP | 10MB | 512 × 512, circular | Your photo is cropped to a circle, so keep your face or subject centered. Fromag resizes it for you on upload — pick the best version you have rather than a small one. ## Sharing Your Profile Tap the **Share** button on your profile to distribute it via link or QR code. Private reviews are never visible on your shared profile — only public reviews appear to others. # Buddies Source: https://docs.fromag.io/features/buddies Follow other cheese lovers and stay updated on what they're tasting. **Buddies** lets you follow other Fromag.io users and see their latest cheese activity in your feed. ## Following Someone Find suggested users in the **For You** feed, or tap a username anywhere in the app. Tap their name or avatar to view their profile. Tap the **Follow** button on their profile page. ## What You'll See Once you follow someone, their public activity appears in your **For You** feed: * Recent cheese reviews with ratings and tasting notes * Photos from their tastings * Latest tasting previews Each buddy's profile shows their total public review count, the number of people they follow, and their follower count. ## Unfollowing Open their profile and tap the follow button again to unfollow. Their content is removed from your feed immediately — they won't be notified. ## Privacy Only **public reviews** are visible to followers. If a user has marked a review as private, it won't appear in your feed or on their public profile, even after you follow them. # Cheese Library Source: https://docs.fromag.io/features/cheese-library Browse and discover 6,545+ artisan cheeses from around the world. The Cheese Library is Fromag.io's core collection — **6,545+ artisan cheeses from 709+ producers across 65 countries**. Every entry includes the maker's name, an image, tasting descriptions, origin details, milk variety, texture, and community ratings. ## Browsing & Search Find cheeses by name or creamery using the search bar, or use filters to narrow things down: | Filter | Options | | --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ | | Country | 65 countries including France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and more | | Producer | Filter by specific creamery or maker | | Milk source | Cow, goat, sheep, buffalo, or blended | | Milk processing | Raw, pasteurized, or thermized | | Enzyme type | Animal, vegetable, or microbial rennet | ## Understanding Cheese Attributes These attributes appear on every cheese profile and aren't just trivia — they can matter for allergies, dietary restrictions, religious observance, and food safety. Here's what they mean: The animal source of the milk: **cow, goat, sheep, buffalo,** or a **blend**. Milk type drives flavor and texture, and matters if you're managing a dairy sensitivity — some people who react to cow's milk protein tolerate goat or sheep cheese better. The enzyme used to coagulate milk into curds: * **Animal rennet** — traditionally sourced from the stomach lining of young ruminants. Not vegetarian. * **Vegetable/plant rennet** — derived from plants like thistle or fig sap. * **Microbial rennet** — produced by fungi or bacteria; the most common vegetarian-friendly option today. Rennet type is essential info for vegetarians and for anyone following kosher or halal dietary law. How the milk was treated before cheesemaking: * **Raw** — unpasteurized milk. * **Pasteurized** — heated to kill harmful bacteria; the standard for most commercial cheese. * **Thermized** — a lighter heat treatment between raw and full pasteurization. Raw milk cheeses carry a small risk of foodborne illness. They're generally not recommended for pregnant people, young children, older adults, or anyone immunocompromised. ## Favourites & Wishlist Save cheeses as you browse: * **Favourites** — tap the heart icon on any cheese detail page * **Wishlist** — tap the bookmark icon on any cheese detail page View and search both lists from the Library tab. ## Cheese Detail Pages Tap any cheese to see: * Full description and tasting notes * Producer and origin information * Milk type and processing method * Community ratings and reviews * Options to save to Favourites or Wishlist * Leo AI pairing suggestions ## Can't Find a Cheese? Tap **Request a Cheese** from the Library tab to add one yourself — see the [Request a Cheese guide](/features/request-a-cheese) for the full walkthrough. Use the country filter alongside [My Passport](/features/passport) to discover cheeses from countries you haven't stamped yet. # Home Source: https://docs.fromag.io/features/home Your personalized feed — new cheeses to discover and what your buddies are tasting. The **Home** tab is the first thing you see when you open Fromag.io. It surfaces cheeses worth trying and reviews worth reading, tailored to your activity. ## What's on Home A strip of cheeses you've looked at recently, so you can pick up where you left off A featured hero cheese, refreshed daily A carousel of the newest reviews from across the community Reviews from the Buddies you follow ## Recently Viewed & Popular Picks The strip at the top of Home tracks the cheeses you've opened recently, so you can easily find your way back to them. Just getting started? Until you've viewed a few cheeses, this strip shows **Popular Picks** — a curated selection to help you discover the library. It switches to your own **Recently Viewed** history automatically. ## Cheese of the Day Each day, Fromag.io highlights one cheese from the library — chosen from cheeses with more than one review, so you know it's already been vetted by the community. Tap the card to see its full profile, ratings, and reviews. ## Recent Reviews A horizontally scrolling carousel of the latest reviews written across Fromag.io. Tap any card to read the full review. ## Your Feed Once you [follow some Buddies](/features/buddies), their public reviews appear here. If your feed is empty, Home will suggest people to follow to help you get started. # Leo, AI Cheesemonger Source: https://docs.fromag.io/features/leo-ai Get personalized cheese pairings and instant cheese identification from Leo — Fromag.io's AI cheesemonger. **Leo** is Fromag.io's AI cheesemonger. Tap the **PAIR** button on any cheese to get instant pairing suggestions, or snap a photo of a cheese to identify it on the spot. Leo isn't a chat assistant yet — that may come in the future. Today, Leo powers two tap-to-use features: pairing suggestions and cheese identification. ## What Leo Can Do Tap **PAIR** on any cheese's detail page to get complementary foods, wines, beers, and beverages Point your camera at a cheese label or the cheese itself — Leo will identify it and suggest pairings, no prior cheese knowledge required ## The "Like with Like" Principle Leo often applies a simple but effective pairing rule: cheeses and beverages from the same geographic region naturally complement one another. For example, Gruyère from the Swiss Alps pairs beautifully with Chasselas, a crisp white wine from the same Western Alpine area. # My Passport Source: https://docs.fromag.io/features/passport Collect country stamps and badges by reviewing cheeses from around the world. **My Passport** tracks your cheese journey across the globe. Earn a stamp for every country whose cheeses you review — 65 countries in total. Each stamp **levels up** as you review more cheeses from that country, so there's always more to explore. See [Points & Leaderboard](/features/points-and-leaderboard) for the level thresholds. ## How to Earn Stamps Write at least one review for a cheese originating from a country to earn that country's stamp. Each stamp comes with a **badge reflecting the cheese traditions of that region**. Use the country filter in the [Cheese Library](/features/cheese-library) to find cheeses from a specific country. Rate the cheese and add tasting notes. The stamp appears on your profile passport section automatically. Tap any stamp to see country details and the reviews that earned it. ## Countries & Cheese Counts The library currently features cheeses from 65 countries. Some highlights: | Country | Cheeses | | -------------- | ------- | | France | 3,480+ | | United States | 940+ | | United Kingdom | 790+ | | Italy | 310+ | | Ireland | 140+ | ## Accessing Your Passport Find your passport on the **Profile** tab. Your stamps are visible on your public profile, giving other users a snapshot of your cheese exploration journey. # Points & Leaderboard Source: https://docs.fromag.io/features/points-and-leaderboard Earn points by reviewing cheeses and see how you rank against the Fromag community. Every public review you write earns points. Discover new cheeses, explore new countries, and hit milestones to climb the leaderboard. ## How Points Work Points are awarded when you submit a **public, approved review**. The base amount depends on how new the cheese is — to you, or to the platform. | Review type | Points | | ------------------------------------------- | ------- | | Cheese you've reviewed before | 25 pts | | Cheese new to you (others have reviewed it) | 125 pts | | First ever review of a cheese on Fromag | 500 pts | ### New Country Bonus Review a cheese from a country you've never reviewed before and earn an extra **+1,000 pts**. Your home country doesn't count toward this bonus. ### Milestone Bonuses Hit a review count milestone and earn a badge plus a bonus points drop — whether you got there on a public or private review. | Milestone | Badge | Bonus points | | ----------- | -------------- | ------------ | | 1st review | First Bite | 1,000 pts | | 5 reviews | Getting Tasty | 1,000 pts | | 10 reviews | Cheese Curious | 2,000 pts | | 100 reviews | Connoisseur | 5,000 pts | | 200 reviews | Turophile | 5,000 pts | Milestone badges are awarded on total reviews including private ones. But the bonus points only land when the review crossing the milestone is public. ## Private Reviews Private reviews count toward your **passport levels** and **milestone badges** — they're part of your personal cheese journey. They don't earn points or show up on the leaderboard. ## Passport Levels Your stamp for each country levels up as you review more cheeses from there. Levels are based on your total approved reviews from that country, including private ones. | Reviews from a country | Level | | ---------------------- | -------- | | 1 | Level 1 | | 2–4 | Level 2 | | 5–9 | Level 3 | | 10–14 | Level 4 | | 15–19 | Level 5 | | 20–24 | Level 6 | | Every 5 after that | +1 level | ## The Leaderboard Find the leaderboard in the **Buddies** tab. Toggle between two views: * **All-time** — total points earned since you joined * **This month** — points earned since the 1st of the current month (resets at 12:00 UTC) The top 3 get a podium. Your own row is highlighted so you can always find your rank. # Request a Cheese Source: https://docs.fromag.io/features/request-a-cheese Can't find a cheese in the library? Add it yourself in a few taps. Tap **Request a Cheese** from the Library tab to add a cheese that isn't in the database yet. ## How It Works * **Upload a photo** — take one or pick from your library and we'll pre-fill the name, creamery, country, milk type, pasteurization, rennet, and age for you. Review the fields before sending — we fill in what we can, not what we're sure of. * **Fill in the rest** — only the cheese name is required. Creamery, pasteurization, rennet, age, country, milk type, and description are all optional. * **Get an instant answer** — most requests are reviewed automatically the moment you submit, so you'll usually know right away whether it's approved, a duplicate, not recognizable as cheese, or needs a closer look. * **Appeal a decision** — disagree with the call, even an approval? Tap **Appeal** on the result screen to email our team directly, with your request already referenced. * **Track your requests** — see the status of everything you've submitted from your Profile under **My Requests**. Use the country filter on the [Cheese Library](/features/cheese-library) alongside [My Passport](/features/passport) to spot gaps before you request — someone else may have already added the cheese you're thinking of. # Reviews Source: https://docs.fromag.io/features/reviews Log and share your cheese tasting experiences with the community. Reviews are how the Fromag.io community builds collective knowledge about artisan cheese. Share what you tasted, how it paired, and what made it memorable. ## Writing a Review Search for the cheese in the [Cheese Library](/features/cheese-library). Open the cheese detail page and tap the **Write Review** button. Fill in the required fields and any optional details you'd like to share. ## Review Fields | Field | Required | | ----------------- | ----------------------- | | Star rating (1–5) | Yes | | Review | No | | Photo | No | | Privacy setting | No (defaults to public) | ### Adding a Photo Take a new photo or pick one from your library. Fromag resizes and compresses it as it uploads, so you don't need to shrink it first — and it uses far less of your data than sending the full-size original would. | Accepted formats | Max size | | ---------------- | -------- | | JPG, PNG, WEBP | 10MB | Photos taken on an iPhone are usually HEIC. Fromag converts those for you on upload, so they work normally — you only need to think about the format if you're picking a file some other app created. ## Writing a Great Review Engage all your senses when describing a cheese: * **Experience** — where did you have it, and what does it remind you of? * **Aroma** — earthy, floral, pungent, milky? * **Flavor** — nutty, sharp, buttery, tangy? * **Texture** — creamy, crumbly, firm, supple? * **Pairings** — what wines, beers, jams, or breads complement it? Try the "like with like" principle — cheeses and beverages from the same region often pair naturally. For example, a Gruyère from the Swiss Alps pairs beautifully with Chasselas, a crisp white wine from the same Western Alpine area. The best reviews tell a story, not just a tasting record. For example: *"We bought this in San Sebastián and it's the best Basque cheese I've ever eaten. It reminds me of warm summers and long siestas."* ## Managing Your Reviews * **Edit** — update any review at any time * **Delete** — permanently remove a review * **Make private** — hide a review from the public feed while keeping it in your personal history ## Community Feed Public reviews from people you follow appear in the **For You** section of your home feed. You can like and comment on reviews from your Buddies. # Create Your Account Source: https://docs.fromag.io/getting-started/create-account Sign up for Fromag.io and set up your profile. Tap it to see the badge and the reviews you've written along that trail * **Already been on the trail?** — if you'd reviewed a qualifying cheese before this update, your badge is waiting for you, dated to the review that earned it Cheese trail badges are for the journey, not the scoreboard — they're worth no points and don't affect the leaderboard. ## July 6, 2026 **Fromag.io 2.4 — Home Discovery & Review Editing** * **Recently Viewed & Popular Picks** — a new strip on Home tracks cheeses you've recently looked at; new users see curated Popular Picks until they build up history * **Cheese of the Day** — a featured hero cheese on Home, refreshed daily and pulled from cheeses with more than one review * **Edit & Delete Reviews** — update or remove your own reviews any time from the review detail page ## June 23, 2026 **Fromag.io 2.3 — Points, Leaderboard & Leveled Passport** * **Points & Leaderboard** — earn points by writing public reviews and see where you rank on the all-time and monthly leaderboard * **Leveled Passport** — your per-country passport badges now level up as you review more cheeses from that country. Check out our [FAQ](/help/faq) or reach out at [hello@fromag.io](mailto:hello@fromag.io). # Onboarding Guide Source: https://docs.fromag.io/producer/onboarding Claim your creamery, update your info, and manage your cheese listings. This guide walks you through getting your creamery set up on Fromag.io, from claiming your profile to managing your cheese listings. Prefer video? Watch the [Video Walkthrough](/producer/video-walkthrough) for a four-part tour covering this entire process. ## Claim Your Creamery Claiming happens on the web, not in the mobile app — head to [fromag.io/creamery-partner](https://fromag.io) to get started. Sign up with email and password, or continue with Google or Microsoft. Sign up with your creamery's business email (e.g. `you@yourcreamery.com`). If it matches your creamery's website domain, Fromag.io can verify your connection automatically in the next step. Search for your creamery by name. If it's already claimed or has a claim pending, you'll see that status right away instead of a search result. Fromag.io verifies your affiliation one of two ways: * **Automatic** — if your account email's domain matches your creamery's website domain, you're verified instantly and your claim is submitted for review. * **Manual** — otherwise, upload one piece of evidence: a business registration or license, a utility bill or invoice, proof of access to the creamery's website or social account, or a photo of the business showing identifying details. See [Logo & Photo Requirements](#logo-and-photo-requirements) below for accepted file types and sizes. Your claim goes to the Fromag.io team. You'll get a confirmation email once it's submitted. Once approved, you'll get a welcome email with next steps and a link to your creamery dashboard — your creamery's cheeses now show up under your producer profile. Already have an approved claim? Signing back in takes you straight to your dashboard instead of the search page. Searching for a creamery that's already claimed or has a pending claim shows you its status instead of letting you submit a duplicate request. Can't find your creamery in the library? Request it to be added through the onboarding workflow in the [desktop app](https://fromag.io) — once it's added, come back to claim it. ## Logo and Photo Requirements Whether you're uploading claim verification evidence, your creamery's logo, or a photo of one of your cheeses, keep these specs in mind: | Upload | Accepted formats | Max size | Best results at | | --------------------------- | ------------------- | -------- | --------------------- | | Cheese photo | JPG, PNG, WEBP | 5MB | 1600 × 1600 or larger | | Creamery logo | JPG, PNG, WEBP | 5MB | 512 × 512, square | | Claim verification evidence | JPG, PNG, WEBP, PDF | 10MB | — | Your logo displays in a circular frame, so use a square (1:1) image with your mark centered — the same crop-safe approach platforms like Google Business Profile and DoorDash ask their partners for. A PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result; avoid packing detail right up to the edges since it gets cropped first. Upload the best version you have. Fromag resizes and compresses photos for you when you upload them, so a large photo straight from a camera is fine — you don't need to shrink it first. What we can't fix is a photo that started out small or blurry, so avoid screenshots and images saved from social media. HEIC photos from an iPhone, SVG files, GIFs and videos aren't supported. If your photo won't upload, open it and re-save it as a JPG. ## Update Creamery Information Once your creamery is claimed, you can update: * Creamery name and description * Address and website * Logo and photos ## Modify a Cheese From your creamery dashboard, select any cheese you own to update: * Name and description * Milk type * Rennet type * Treatment * Photos See [Cheese Library](/features/cheese-library) for what each attribute means. ## Add an Additional Cheese Navigate to your creamery profile. Fill in the cheese name, description, milk type, rennet type, treatment, and photo. Your new cheese is added to the Cheese Library under your creamery. Complete listings with a photo and tasting notes get more attention from cheese lovers browsing the library. # For Cheese Producers Source: https://docs.fromag.io/producer/overview Claim your creamery on Fromag.io and manage your cheese listings.
